CircusWest is fresh from performing at the Olympics, where two of our performers, were part of the aerial team that performed at the Opening Ceremonies. CircusWest s also entertained huge crowds twice a day at Robson Square and Granville Island. CircusWest also performed at the opening of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) opening gala at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
The Avatar Circus project blends theatricality, aerial artistry, dance, and the circus arts is an awe inspiring display of human potential and grace. Witness our performers as they soar, seemingly defy gravity, and perform amazing feats set against multimedia projections with engaging, powerful music.
CircusWest has been active during the games with performances by Avatar and the Performance and Centre Stage students. Two of the CircusWest coaching staff were part of the aerial team that performed at the opening ceremonies at BC Place. Congratulations to Lindsay Hamilton and Karl Pazdernik for this honour. CircusWest is currently performing at Robson Square and Granville Island.
CircusWest is very excited to be a resident performer at Robson Square and showcase the best BC has to offer. For 17 days starting on February 12 CircusWest invades downtown with a 30-minute circus show twice-daily 1:30pm & 5:00pm at the south end on Stage One at GE Plaza. Come see CirKids performers as they juggle, unicycle; perform human pyramids, dazzling acrobatics and spin inside giant wheels under the bubbles at Robson Square. This is a free show so please join us at the square.

For the 5th year in the row CircusWest is invited to perform at Granville Island's Winter Festival. This year the Avatar Circus Project is featured along side Centre Stage students in a new and original 30 minute production entitled Saison D 'Etre 'A Season to Be'. Witness CircusWest's premier artists perform daring aerials, mesmerizing contact juggling and unicycle acrobatics nightly at the 'Under the Bridge' stage. Shows at 6:30pm and 8:00pm from February 19th-24th in the heart of Granville Island.
The CircusWest Performance troupe delighted an international audience at Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Tuesday February 9th, 2010. Governor General Michaelle Jean, IOC Committee President Jacques Rogge, VANOC CEO John Furlong, Premier Gordon Campbell and Mayor Gregor Robertson were in attendance as CirKids took the stage to perform a tribute to the Olympics. The young artists performed acrobatics on an Inukshuk, surrounded by tissus and acrobatic wheels. It was a thrill to perform for the IOC delegates and special guests at this event.
The Olympic Torch Relay passed through the streets of Vancouver and CirKids performed in front of 2000 high school students and local Olympians at the school. The shows were standing room only at this exciting event kicking off the 2010 Olympics.
CircusWest has 2 performing troupes, our amateur youth performing troupe CirKids and the Avatar Circus Project, a professional troupe. Both groups are available to perform at community and corporate events, music and art festivals, benefits, fundraising and gala events and civic celebrations. CircusWest produces a youth show each spring at the Garden Auditorium at the PNE.
