Circus Camp Is the Best

Dear Parents: if you’re looking for something athletic, artistic, and engaging for your kids this summer, look no further than the circus. Nothing says “well-rounded camp” like a rotation through a bunch of circus skills. We’ve got it all: trampolines, trapezes, unicycles, juggling balls, bouncy foam mats. Not to mention dedicated coaches and a super fun atmosphere! But act quickly: the word is getting out, and our popular camps fill up fast.

CircusWest just wrapped up our Spring Break Camp for 2017, and what a blast! It was so popular we had to extend the maximum number and add a few coaches. After all, we always want to accommodate anyone who’s looking for a little circus in their lives. The camp ran 9:00-4:30 Monday to Friday, and had a performance for families and friends on the Friday afternoon. Over the span of the camp, 38 kids learned how to do circus skills including aerial silks, trampoline, tumble track, juggling and unicycle. At the end of the camp, at the very end of the hour-long performance, all the kids created a giant human pyramid. A fitting way to end a week full of learning new skills and supporting each other.

Over the summer, CircusWest hosts two camps at our location at the PNE and provides coaches and equipment for other off-campus locations (like Stratford Hall, on Commercial Dr). Our day-long summer camps run each week in July (either here or out in the town), all day Mon-Fri. They’re for children ages 7-14. For the smaller guys, we also offer half-day camps at the PNE for the first week of August. These mini camps are for 5- to 6-year-olds, and run for 3 hours in the morning (Camp A) or 3 hours in the afternoon (Camp B).

CircusWest has been providing Vancouver with circus training classes for 30 years. Our well-loved camps are an amazing way to try out circus for the first time, and lead naturally into our programming throughout the year if you find you love it. Which, dare we say, is likely? We do. We dare. We have 6-week sessional classes for kids and adults, 13 and up, and the opportunity to do intensive training in one area for those already versed in circus. Check us out, and go for a staycation at the circus this summer.
